Willow Grove Rd. resident was known for selling firewood to locals and campers
Raymond Kane of 449 Willow Grove Road in Stony Point was discovered deceased via a gunshot wound on Tuesday.
The tragedy appeared to be self-inflicted. Police described the death as โnot appearing to be suspiciousโ in any criminal sense.
Kane was well-liked in his Willow Grove neighborhood and long had advertised firewood to passerbys. No funeral arrangements have been announced.

Raymond F. Kane passed away April 8th, 2014, at the age of 61. Raymond is predeceased by his father Walt his mother Mary and his brother Walter. Though Raymond lived in Stony Point for the past 44 years he was born in Lake Placid, NY on January 25th, 1953. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Cathy, his loving siblings Gregg, Douglas, and Cathy (Jim) Martin as well as his devoted in-laws Pete and Mag Brush and Charles Jones, his two wonderful children Jessica and her Julio, Jonathan and his wife Lori, and his three grandchildren Molly, Sadie and Lily as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own children. When not at home with his family he could often be found in nature either hunting, fishing, or cutting wood. Even by those that counted themselves as customers, he was more than just โthe wood guyโ to everyone he met. He was loved by everyone he came into contact with, as he was the type of man that would give you the flannel shirt off his back. He is, and will continue to be, missed by everyone.
