The Behavioral Health Center at Nyack Hospital and Judith H. Trust Assessment and Referral Center officially opened last week. The Behavioral Health Center is an adult acute care psychiatric unit located within a community acute medical and surgical hospital. It takes the place of many mental health services previously provided at the county hospital in Pomona.
Said Nyack Hospital administrators in a press release: “The Center offers a full spectrum of medical and psychiatric services in one location, which allows for coordination of care without disruption for patients. Nyack Hospital has the resources to diagnose and treat patients with complex medical and mental health problems, placing the focus on caring for the combined needs of the patient.”
Mental health care is available at the center for those who require acute inpatient psychiatric care for reasons such as post partum depression, post traumatic syndrome, inherited mental illness, stress disorders, and other illnesses.
Patients can be admitted directly to The Behavioral Health Center by physician referral. Individuals who arrive at the Emergency Department will be evaluated as to the need for acute inpatient psychiatric care at the Judith H. Trust Assessment and Referral Center which is located in the Emergency Department. Those individuals not requiring inpatient admission will be assisted in finding appropriate treatment resources with the help of our community partners.
