The co-founder and former longtime coo-owner of Janet Hogan’s Diner Restaurant in West Nyack passed away Saturday at the age of 85.
Hogan ran the location from the 1960s until the Palisades Center Mall construction forced her closure in the mid-90s. She was partners in the business with her late husband George, both well-known and loved persons in the Rockland County community.
Hogan’s name and family trade lives on through the continuing operation by her sons of three restaurant/diner locations that bear the Hogan’s name, each independently owned: Hogan’s Family Diner in Stony Point, Hogan’s Diner in Orangeburg and Hogan’s Nyack Diner in Nyack.
The original West Nyack location was known as a community hub, which attracted politicians to talk about the events of the day.
The Yonkers-native Janet married her longtime sweetheart, George D. Hogan of Piermont in 1957. The couple lived raised four children in Tappan, where they lived for over 50 years.
