To the Editor,
Someone on Facebook recently said she hears from people who are living in great distress and trauma that all the “systems” have failed them leaving them to heal and help themselves. What we need, she concluded, is fewer systems and more supportive communities.
Well said, but how can this be brought about? Families need to be able to help themselves, but the problems are numerous and the search for support widens. Browsing the Facebook website is time-consuming under any circumstances, but groping around trying to figure out how to navigate the Facebook system could be endless. Living in permanent crisis management, and with no luck all the years finding help the old fashioned way, I’m learning this the hard way.
Nothing gets done and the problems keep multiplying. Keep trying, I’m told, and trust our prayers will be heard.
Sincerely yours,
Rita Daly
