SUNRISE-WALKS FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER, SUNDAY, JUNE 8

Starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, Sunrise Day Camp – Pearl River, will host their second annual fundraising walk-a-thon, SunriseWALKS, to help children with cancer and their siblings attend summer day camp free of charge. This is a fun-noncompetitive event located at the Henry Kaufmann campground in Pearl River, NY, just minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge The two courses, 1 mile and a 5K run, end at a finish line complete with music, games, refreshments and fun for the whole family. There are so many ways to get involved – walk, run, be a virtual walker, sponsor a participant or even volunteer at the event. Advance registration is on-line at www.sunrise-walks.org or come by at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event when registration begins. The team mascot of the Rockland Boulders, Boulder Bird, will be on hand to greet everyone and the national anthem will be performed by popular local teen artist, Tyler Miller. “Everyone who participates in SunriseWALKS helps support the camp in a big way,” said Sandy Haft, director of Sunrise Day Camp – Pearl River. “This allows us to continue to create a place where lives are changed for the better for children struggling with cancer.”
