Congers resident Guillermo Garcia arrested for alleged DWI

10476316_649919265084089_7378071196211189820_nOn Friday June 20, 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Clarkstown Police Department responded to 134 Main St. in Nanuet for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Witnesses stated that a vehicle travelling north bound on Main St. struck two parked cars. The driver of the vehicle, Guillermo Garcia, 58, of Congers had remained at the scene until police arrived.

He was interviewed and appeared to be intoxicated, but was not injured. He was placed under arrest and transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters. Garcia refused to perform standard field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. He was charged with DWI: previous conviction within 10 years (felony), aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree (felony), and circumvent interlock- operate a motor vehicle without a device (misdemeanor).

He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court on Saturday June 21, 2014. Bail was set at $7,500 and Garcia was sent to Rockland County Jail.
