Another flag raised over Rockland

BLAUVELT – Senator David Carlucci’s “Raise the Flag” initiative took shape again in Blauvelt on Wednesday with another donation for Lions Park.

Under a cloudless sky, the Lion’s Club of Blauvelt held a brief ceremony during which they received and raised both an American and POW flag before a recitation of the pledge of allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner.

The Raise the Flag initiative is offered through the Veterans’ Advisory Committee. It offers to replace old, worn flags used by community organizations such as the Lion’s Club and VFW posts with new ones.

This is the second of the program’s flag donations. The first flag-raising took place at the Suffern VFW Post on the Friday before Memorial Day.
