Public Service Announcement from Stony Point PDย
During the first week of June, unknown suspect(s) targeted Stony Point residential mailboxes with their flag up for mail pick up. Personal checks that were being sent out by residents to pay bills were stolen from the mailboxes, scanned and altered to amounts between $3,500 to $3,800. One check was cashed June 9 at the Bank of America in Nanuet. Residents should use caution when sending checks out in their mailbox. If anyone has information or sees anyone suspicious in the neighborhood do not hesitate to call the police. Try and get a good description of the person and/or vehicle. “If you see something, say something” by phoning it in to police without delay.
