STARK AND MCINTEE AWARDED FIRE SCHOLARSHIPS

Samantha Stark of Suffern and Danielle McIntee of Sparkill were recently announced as the two winners of the 2014 Rockland County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Stuart L. Gates Scholarship. Each received checks in amount of $1,250 from RCVFA at the July 11 at the Hillcrest firehouse on Route 45. Stark earned a 4.04 GPA and was ranked 18th in her class from Suffern High School. She plans to major in psychology at SUNY-Geneseo. In high school she was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Spanish Honor Society, played varsity volleyball and ran winter track. She also plays the violin and has earned a Girl Scouts bronze award. Her father Michael is the current chief of the Suffern Fire Dept.

McIntee plans to attend Villanova University for a business degree. She was graduated from Tappan Zee high school with a 98.6 average. She was a member of the Math, History, Spanish and National Honor Societies. She ran cross country and played varsity basketball and lacrosse at TZ. McIntee was a member of DECA, and international business organization that prepares high school and college students for business leadership. Her father Michael is a life member of the Hillcrest Fire Dept.

The names of these scholarship winners will be added to the wall plaque in the lobby of Rockland’s Fire Training Center. RCVFA’s first scholarship winners were back in 1996.
