On July 30, 2014 at approximately 7:15 PM, the Clarkstown Police Department responded to Macyโs located at the Palisades Mall for a report of shoplifting. Loss prevention employees from Macyโs observed four suspects place approximately 40 pieces of clothing in numerous plastic bags and exit the store without paying for the merchandise. Upon exiting the store, an employee tried to stop one of the suspects. A physical struggle ensued between two suspects and the employee. There was no injury to the employee, a male, 23, of West Nyack. The four suspects were able to flee the scene in a vehicle that was stopped by responding units a short distance from the mall. Nicholas Menegan, 19, of Middletown, Yesenia Ocasio, 24, of Middletown, Yvette Lopez, 45, of Walden and Stephanie Grayson, 38, of Oklahoma City, OK, were arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. The merchandise was valued at $1,840. All four suspects were charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony, and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, also a felony. Both Menegan and Lopez were additionally charged with robbery in the third degree, a felony, resulting from the physical struggle with the employee. All four suspects were arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $10,000 for Menegan, $5,000 for Grayson and Ocasio and no bail for Lopez due to a prior conviction. All four suspects were transported to the Rockland County Jail. They have a return court date of August 4, 2014 at 1:30 PM.
