WEINER APPOINTED TO REVISION COMMISSION

New York State Supreme Court Justice Alfred J. Weiner, retired, has been appointed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo as a member of the New York State Law Revision Commission. Justice Weiner, a resident of Rockland County, retired as a Justice of the Supreme Court, after serving more than forty years on the bench, is Of Counsel at the law firm of Mandel, Katz & Brosnan LLP located in Valley Cottage, NY. The commission created by the NYS legislature advises on the effects of changes in state laws recommended or under consideration by the legislature or Governor. Often a Commission’s analysis of a problem will lead to its recommendation of new legislation or amendment to existing law.

He is a former adjunct Professor of Law at Pace Law School, former Executive Committee member of the Association of Justices of the Supreme Court of the State of New York and past President of the New York State Surrogates Court Association and New York State Family Court Judge Association. Justice Weiner was the founder and is a member of the Advisory Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County. His civic activities have also included The Rockland County Historical Society and The Rockland County Mental Health Association. He is presently member of the Board of Directors of the Rockland Jewish Family Service and Jewish Federation of Rockland County.
