The Village of Pomona hosts the 2014 Pomona Music Festival on Saturday, September 13, 1 – 6 p.m., on the grounds of the Pomona Village Hall. Area residents and visitors are invited to bring a lawn chair and enjoy all-day music, local food vendors, crafts, a pie-baking contest, and a musical talent competition. Free admission. Rain date: Sunday, September 14.
The festival spotlights the abundance of musical talent in Pomona and the Hudson Valley with a lineup of performers who have appeared at jazz, rock, folk and blues venues around the world, and who have worked with such noted artists as Susanne Vega, Rusted Root, Peter Allen, Judy Collins, Tom Paxton, The Bacon Brothers, and others.
Some scheduled performers include: guitarist-songwriter Patrick Jones; pianist-composer John McDowell; songwriter Paul Guzzone; Balinese folk musician Tjokorda Gde Arsa Artha; guitarist-composer John Guth; acoustic blues artist Marianne Osiel; acoustic singer-songwriter Chris Brown; folk-pop duo Jillian and Sean; and more. Also on the bill from down south in Montclair, NJ, are The Foggy Minded Boys.
