STATEMENT BY NEW YORK GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE ROB ASTORINO ON GOVERNOR CUOMO’S LOSS OF FUNDING FOR TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE

GOP gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino:

“Slowly but surely, all the myths of the Cuomo Administration are being exposed to sunlight.  Today, Mr. Cuomo lost his dubious funding for the new Tappan Zee Bridge. Mr. Cuomo’s much heralded anti-corruption commission now lands him under federal investigation for corruption. His so-called property tax freeze has only driven up local property taxes because he reneged on providing state mandate relief. Mr. Cuomo’s Start UP New York program spent $237.5 million of the taxpayers’ money — including money intended for Hurricane Sandy victims — for thinly veiled election year ads, while providing virtually no jobs.  And his vow to stop “pay-to-play” practices in Albany is rendered preposterous in his becoming the number one pay-to-play governor in state history.

“Mr. Cuomo’s administration was constructed on the silt of corruption, intimidation, and secrecy. There is no bedrock beneath it. This governor is going to fall.”

Note: Mr. Astorino has long been on record saying that the billions of dollars received from the BNP Paribas and other settlements should be earmarked for the Tappan Zee Bridge and other state infrastructure projects. July opinion piece linked here
