County Announces Flu Vaccine Clinics Scheduled in Rockland

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM ROCKLAND HEALTH DEPT.

It’s that time of year again when residents are being urged by the county government to protect themselves by getting a flu vaccine.

“Take time to get your flu vaccine – it is the first and most important step in protecting against the flu and its complications,” said Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert, Rockland County commissioner of Health.

The Rockland County Health Department, the Rockland County Office for the Aging, and several community agencies including Northern Services Group and Nyack Hospital, have coordinated the following flu vaccine clinics:

     Please note the following information regarding the flu vaccine clinics:

    

  • Northern Services Group Flu Vaccine Clinics  will be offering the trivalent flu vaccine (which protects against three different flu viruses), at a cost of $30, for people ages 19 – 64.  People ages 65 and older will get the quadrivalent flu vaccine (which protects against four different flu viruses), at no charge.  Residents must bring their Medicare card and proof  of age. No appointments are needed. For more information call (845) 426-6701, then enter *226.
  • Nyack Hospital Flu Vaccine Clinics: The trivalent flu vaccine (which protects against three different flu viruses), will be available for $25 for people ages 19 – 64.  People ages 65 and older will get the quadrivalent flu vaccine (which protects against four different flu viruses), with no out of pocket expense. Please bring your Medicare card.  Pregnant women must present a prescription from their doctor in order to receive the vaccine.  No appointments are needed.  For more information, call (845) 348-2004 or visit www.nyackhospital.org
  • Rockland County Department of Health Flu Vaccine Clinics are available free of charge to adults 65  years and older (please bring proof of age). No appointments are needed. Patients with Medicare and Medicaid must bring their cards. People ages 9 through 64 can receive the vaccine, but will be charged a $30 fee. Each patient must bring proof of Rockland County residency such as a driver’s license or utility bill. The Health Department will be giving the preservative free, quadrivalent flu vaccine (which protects against four different flu viruses).  For more information, call (845) 364-2520.
