On September 17 the Clarkstown Police Detective Bureau arrested Kevin Hoyt, 30 , from Suffern after an investigation stemming from a criminal mischief incident that occurred between August 22 and August 27, 2014 at 33 Rt. 304 in Nanuet. Hoyt stands accused of dismantling six air conditioning units to steal copper wire and trade the metal in for cash.
Hoyt, former vice president and son of the founder of Hoyt Maintenance Company in Congers, was accused of a similar crime, along with his brother Kenneth, at the old Huffman Koos building on N. Middletown Rd. in Nanuet, late July.
In the August incident, the owner of the location called Clarkstown Police on August 28, 2014 to report that six of the air conditioning units on the roof of his building had been destroyed by unknown suspects.. The result of the damage exceeded $100,000 in repairs needed to make the units operable.
Kevin Hoyt was charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, a felony, burglary in the third degree, a felony and petit larceny, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court on September 18, 2014. Kevin Hoyt received $2,500 bail and was transported to Rockland County Jail.
