Gymnasts were upside down with enthusiasm on Saturday, September 20, 2014 (National Gymnastics Day) at the Rockland Gymnastic Academy, as they joined thousands across the country to participate in a handstand challenge to mark the occasion.

National Gymnastics Day was established in 1999 to promote the ideals of physical fitness, to teach the importance of charitable outreach through sport and play and to introduce gymnastics to youth who may not have the means to participate.

Director of the Rockland Gymnastics Academy Edgar Hatch said, “Our program encourages student success through an athletic experience, in a friendly atmosphere, that builds fundamental motor skills of balance, coordination, strength in addition to self-esteem and confidence.”
