Before a packed house of several hundred people, about 100 students and faculty performed Rodgers and Hammerstein’s famed musical, “Oklahoma,” and did themselves proud.
Dan Cassler as “Curly” and Caitlin Pendleon as “Laurey Williams,” had positive chemistry telling their love story to the wonderful music of “Oklahoma,” including “Oh What A Beautiful Morning,”” People Will Say We’re In Love,” and “Out Of My Dreams.” Genevieve Henderson was a very adroit “Ado Annie,” and Colleen Rogers came on strong as “Aunt Eller” in the saga of cowboys and cowgirls that was Rodgers and Hammerstein’s first joint musical venture which has graced the Broadway stage numerous times and has been performed around the world.
The Class of 2015 made wonderful cowboys and cowgirls-with the choreography of the show and the production occurred smoothly with excellent backup by the orchestra-directed by Thomas Hoetzel assisted by Beth Weinstein. Choreographer Beth Carter had the cast well tuned for the multiple dance numbers involved.
Musical Director Brian Evans and Vocal Director Rene Dalandan came through topflight.”Oklahoma,” came to Pearl River in fine fashion and I rate it three out of four stars! It took much effort by a lot of students and faculties.
