Elmwood Playhouse’s “Sunday in the Park with George” music director, ASSAF GLEIZNER, and lead actress, KIMBERLY HAWKEY (Dot) will be doing double-duty on Sunday, December 7th. First, they’ll perform the Sunday matinee of Sondheim’s Pulitzer Prize-Winning Musical at 2 p.m., and when the curtain comes down they’ll immediately start setting up for a “Sundays at Seven” performance with their band, THE SWINGAROOS.
THE SWINGAROOS are NY’s 6-piece Swing-Era Territory Band. The ensemble entertains with their stylized performances of original swing tunes, led by vocalist/banjoist/washboardist, Kimberly “Miss Kim” Hawkey, and pianist Assaf Gleizner. Their high-energy, vaudeville-inspired shows have been staged across NYC and Westchester in venues such as the Hudson Hotel, the Metropolitan Room, the St. Regis Hotel, the Yale Club and Cafe Lalo. The Swingaroos evoke all the sounds of a midwestern-based, New Orleans-bound, Hollywood-exploited 1940’s swing band.
The December 7 performance will begin at 7 p.m. at the Elmwood Playhouse (10 Park St., Nyack), and will feature original songs as well as stylized covers from the 1940s Hit Parade. Tickets are $15.00 or $12.00 for Elmwood members. Call the Box Office for Reservations: 845-343-1313. www.elmwoodplayhouse.com.
