OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR CUOMO: FALCO RESISTS JUDITH CLARK CLEMENCY REQUEST

Dear Governor Cuomo,

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the clemency application being considered in regard to Judith Clark. Ms. Clark and the other self-proclaimed revolutionaries were responsible for the murders of two Nyack police officers, Sergeant Edward J. O’Grady, Jr, Police Officer Waverly “Chipper” Brown and Brinks security guard Peter Paige on October 20, 1981 in Rockland County. Ms. Clark was in a vehicle fleeing the scene in Nyack and that vehicle contained firearms and money from the robbery. So make no mistake she was an active participant in this heinous crime.

These men left behind nine children, who have had to grow up without their fathers, to share life’s milestones and their many achievements. To tell them that one of the people responsible for the murder of their father has served enough time, or that she shouldn’t have to face the full consequences for her crimes, is in a word, unconscionable. And what message would clemency send to police officers and their families throughout this great state? That their lives are only worth a portion of the time someone receives after availing themselves of all the protections of our criminal justice system?

I implore you to deny this application for clemency and send a clear message to people who murder police officers. If you commit this abhorrent act, you will serve your full sentence in our state prison system.

Sincerely,

Louis Falco III
Sheriff
