Five residents escape fire in New City

Clarkstown PD and five local fire departments had their hands full Tuesday night responding to a house fire at 46 Twin Elms Lane in New City.

At just past 8 p.m. Clarkstown PD received a call and found the home at the address engulfed in flames.  New City Fire Dept. was joined by Hillcrest, West Nyack, Congers and Haverstraw departments in fighting  the fire.

Five residents escaped the blaze, one of whom went to Nyack Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Police said the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
