Embossed holiday greeting cards express human emotions such as joy, humor, love and admiration, allowing senders to connect with the people who have touched their lives. Fans of the craft say such handmade cards are special for the creator and recipient.
Instructor Cheryl McNeil said, “Embossing is a technique used to create a raised or three-dimensional image on a piece of paper. The fast-melting embossing powder comes in opaque, metallic and translucent varieties that can be used on store-bought stationery or card stock.”
Participant Barbara Williamson said, “The card-making was fun…I had never done embossing before. I am retiring soon and this activity can be another hobby for me.”
The workshop is one of many that take place at Orangeburg Library. Visit http://www.orangeburg-library.org/ to see some other programs taking place there.
