Ramapo police report choke incident at Bagel Boys in Airmont

On Saturday December 13, 2014 at 9:01 a.m., the Town of Ramapo Police Department responded to a report of an assault at the Bagel Boys Restaurant located at 9 North Airmont Road, in the Village of Airmont.  Upon arrival responding officers found a male being restrained by a store patron.  Officers placed the suspect, Robinson Joseph of 116 Pondview Drive, Airmont, NY into custody without incident.  The victim stated to the officers that he was waiting on line to place his order when Mr. Joseph engaged him in a conversation.  The victim stated that Mr. Joseph then became irate and the incident became physical.  The victim stated that Mr. Joseph then began choking him.  Other good samaritans in the establishment then came to the victim’s aid and held Mr. Joseph until Ramapo Police officers arrived.

Mr. Joseph has been charged with Assault in the second degree – D Felony, and Strangulation in the second degree – D Felony.  Mr. Joseph was arraigned before the Village of Airmont Justice Court.  His bail was set at one thousand dollars.  The judge also ordered Mr. Joseph to be sent to a detoxification program.
