Will a lawsuit by village residents succeed in removing Delhomme from office?

The Rockland County Times has learned that a group of Spring Valley taxpayers and village workers will file suit later this week or early next week, seeking the removal of Mayor Demeza Delhomme from office. The group will utilize a clause in the public officers law known as Article 36 that allows concerned parties to seek redress in court for the removal of incompetent or abusive lawmakers. There is no recourse for recall elections at the municipal level in New York State.

The group will levy shocking accusations against Delhomme of sexual and racial discrimination, including accusations that Delhomme, whose ethnicity is black Haitian, systematically discriminated against black Americans, calling them stupid, as well as making abusive gender comments toward several women. The group claims they will provide evidence to show that Delhomme replaced African American employees with caucasian ones.
