Untitled25 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR SPRING VALLEY MAN CONVICTED IN CHRISTMASTIME 2013 HOMICIDE
Juan Perez-Coira, age 45, of Spring Valley, NY, was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison after a bench trial that convicted him of two counts of murder in the second degree, class “A” felonies ; one count of attempted criminal sexual act in the first degree , a class “C” felony; and one count of attempted rape in the first degree, a class “C” felony, all in relation to the killing of 55-year-old Deborah Burns. On or about and between December 24 and December 26, 2013, Perez-Coira attempted to commit the crime of rape in the first degree and attempted to commit the crime of criminal sexual act in the first degree; in the course of and in furtherance of each of those crimes and or immediate flight there from Perez-Coira caused the death of Burns. Perez-Coira and the victim were acquaintances and had spent the evening together before the defendant caused her death. She died as the result of internal bleeding. Executive Assistant District Attorney Dominic A. Crispino prosecuted the case.

ASSAULT, VEHICULAR ASSAULT & DWI
Matthew Beckerle, age 50, residing at 64 Mountainview Avenue, Pearl River, NY, was indicted on September 16, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of vehicular assault in first degree, vehicular assault in the second degree (4 counts), assault in the second degree (4 counts), assault in the third degree (5 counts) and driving while intoxicated. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about June 13, 2015 at approximately 9:40 p.m., the defendant was driving at high rate of speed south bound in the area of Kings Highway and Route 304 when he rear ended a vehicle with two occupants. After the defendant rear ended the one vehicle, he then swerved into the northbound lanes of Route 304 and crashed head on with another vehicle with three occupants. Both vehicles were totaled due to the force of impact. The occupants of both vehicles all suffered serious physical injury.

CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
Clyde Neblett, age 26, residing at 3007 Grand Street, Richmond, VA and Larry Winborne, age 41, residing at 3403 Maplewood Avenue, Richmond, VA, were arrested on September 11, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (2 counts each). District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about August 24, 2015, in the Village of Spring Valley both defendants were found to be in possession of cocaine and heroin.

DWI
Mario Acosta-Portillo, age 46, residing at 5513 Grand Place, West New York, NJ, was indicted on September 16, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of driving while intoxicated as a felony and aggravated driving while intoxicated. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about September 3, 2014 at approximately 12:37 p.m., the defendant was observed to be driving in an erotic manner when he crossed double yellow lines and crashed into a stone wall in the Town of Orangetown. The defendant’s blood alcohol content revealed a .29. The defendant had two prior DWI convictions from New Jersey.

ASSAULT, OBSTRUCTING GOVERNMENTAL ADMINISTRATION, RESISTING ARREST, ESCAPE & DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Jason Cantave, age 30, residing at 16 Rodman Place, Spring Valley, NY, was indicted on September 11, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of assault in the second degree (2 counts), obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, resisting arrest, escape in the third degree and disorderly conduct. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about June 21, 2015 at approximately 2:41 a.m., the defendant was amongst a crowd of people outside a local bar in Clarkstown when he began to be unruly. Officers attempted to place the defendant under arrest but he managed to get free, causing injuries to the officers. The defendant fled on foot and was later apprehended at a local hotel.

CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE & CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON
Gabriel DeFrank, age 25, residing at 11 Georgian Drive, Stony Point, NY, was indicted on September 11, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second and third degrees. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about September 2, 2015 at approximately 10 p.m. in the Town of Stony Point, the defendant was found to be in possession of a gun and 12.2 grams of cocaine.

GRAND LARCENY & CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
Cieyel Ford, age 29, residing at 2508 Route 9W, Ravena, NY, was indicted on September 16, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of grand larceny in the fourth degree and criminal Possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about June 8, 2015 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the defendant stole merchandise from Sephora located in the Palisades Center Mall. The merchandise was valued at $1,187.

CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON
John Hall, age 51, homeless, was indicted on September 11, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about August 27, 2015, the defendant was in violation of a local ordinance when was found to be in possession of an open container in public. During the interaction with the police officers, a switchblade knife was on his person.

GRAND LARCENY, CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY & PETIT LARCENY
Alan Jones, age 20, residing at 52 Coolidge Street, Haverstraw, NY, was indicted on September 11, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of grand larceny in the fourth degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree (3 counts) and petit larceny (2 counts). District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about August 25, 2015, the defendant stole a bicycle from the yard of a residence and an Apple iPhone and wallet from a vehicle while parked in the Town of Stony Point.

CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE & CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
Paul Lennon-Colon, age 19, residing at 246 High Avenue, Nyack, NY, was indicted on September 16, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fourth degrees and criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about August 27, 2015, the defendant was found to be in possession of approximately 18 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of heroin, 4 pounds of marihuana, two digital scales and 77 rounds of 9MM ammunition after a search warrant was executed at his residence.

PROMOTING PRISON CONTRABAND
Richard Mapp, age 30, residing at Avalon Gardens Bldg 621, Nanuet, NY, was indicted on September 11, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime of promoting prison contraband in the first degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about August 12,2015, the defendant was an inmate in the Rockland County Jail and was found to be in possession of heroin after having a visitor.
