Arrest: Criminal Sale Marihuana First, Endangering the Welfare of a Child

drugsStony Point Police and Haverstraw Police responded to a residence on Tomkins Avenue on Saturday, December 5, at approximately 10:30 p.m. regarding Haverstraw Town Policeโ€™s investigation of a stolen vehicle.

Two male subjects in the home were seen carrying large bags of what appeared to be marihuana, according to responding officers.

restoMoments are realizing police saw them and were at the door the two men tried to leave through a back lower-level door and were apprehended and taken to the Stony Point Police Department.

Officers sought and subsequently executed a search warrant at 6 a.m. on December 9, during which police recovered more than 15 pounds of processed marihuana packaged to sell and more than $8,400.

marreroJerome Marrero, 34, Stony Point, and Giovanni Resto, 25, of Murrieta, California, were arrested for criminal possession of marihuana in the first degree (a Class C Felony) and endangering the welfare of a child (a Class A Misdemeanor).

Marreroโ€™s girlfriend, Magdelina Estrella, 30, of Stony Point, was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, her 10-year-old daughter living in the house.

estrellaEstrella was processed at the Stony Point Police Department and is due in Stony Point Justice Court on January 5, 2016. Marrero and Resto are waiting to be arraigned by Stony Point PD.

Town of Haverstraw PD and the Rockland County Sheriffโ€™s BCI Unit assisted with the arrests.
