Police hope LED lights will reduce accidents in Congers

FROM CPD

photo 1The Town of Clarkstown has installed four LED street lights positioned around the railroad crossing at Lake Road in Congers.

Clarkstown PD told the public the installation of the high powered lights and the repainting of the safety lines on the road surface should hopefully reduce accidents caused by vehicles turning accidentally from Congers Road onto the railroad tracks, instead of turning onto N. Rockland Ave. Police said there have been several such accidents in recent years.

photo 2CPD released a statement: “We would like to thank Orange and Rockland Utilities, especially Kate Wysokowski and Teri Johnson, for their instrumental part in getting this job done in a short amount of time. We also would like to thank the crew who installed the lights. This is a step in the right direction to ensure the safety of all travelling this busy area of town.”
