Obituary for Steven Jaffee

Pearl River, NY–Steven Jaffee, husband of Assemblywoman Ellen C. Jaffee and a longtime Suffern resident died, Tuesday January 19, 2016. Devoted husband of Ellen for 51 years; loving and affectionate father of Marc and his wife, Julia, and Allison and her husband, Steve; adoring grandfather of Miles, Jade, and Daniel; brother of Roberta, Jerry and his wife, Janet; brother-in-law of Kenny and his wife, Maryelena, and uncle of Amy and Kierin.

Brooklyn natives, Steve and Ellen moved to Rockland County in 1978, settling in Suffern where they raised their two children. A longtime Democratic Committee member, former Chair of the Suffern Democratic Committee, and various other committees and organizations, Steven supported progressive causes, coached youth baseball, and was a beloved community member with an infectious personality who could relax even the most tense situations.

Steven reinvented himself professionally whenever necessary to incredible success. But his priority was always his family and friends, who learned, every day, from his sweetness, insight, compassion and kindness.
