Schwartz announces candidacy for County Court

Monday January 25, 2016, before a crowd of supporters at the American Legion Hall in New City, Clarkstown attorney, Larry J. Schwartz, a New City Democrat, announced his candidacy for Rockland County Court Judge. Haverstraw Town Supervisor Howard Phillips introduced Schwartz, flanked by over a dozen other elected officials. Phillips said “Larry has the extensive experience, knowledge and compassion that we need in a County Court Judge.”

The Rockland County Court is the forum where felony criminal cases are handled. During his legal career, which has spanned over 30 years, Schwartz has been a member of the Rockland County District Attorney’s office, a member of the Rockland County Public Defender’s office and a private practitioner. He is a member of the Rockland County Court’s Drug Court Team and serves on the Drug Court Executive Committee.

Schwartz is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Rockland County Bar Association and serves as co-chairperson of its Criminal Law Committee.

” I have handled hundreds of criminal cases in Rockland County”, said Schwartz. “I believe I am uniquely qualified to handle the many serious matters that are adjudicated in the Rockland County Court.”
