Sprinkler Flood Causes Rest Home Residents to be Displaced in Middle of Storm

IMG_2883On February 15, 2015 at approximately 4 p.m. the Clarkstown Police Department responded to the Spring Valley Rest Home on South Pascack Road in Nanuet for a report of flooding in the residence.

Responding patrol officers observed the rest home’s fire sprinkler system water pipe had broken in the attic area, causing major flooding within the structure.

The Clarkstown Building Department and the fire inspector responded to the scene and determined the building was unsafe. Thirty-one residents were displaced and moved by way of the Clarkstown Mini Trans system to the Golden Acres facility in Monsey.

There were no injuries reported. A determination of IMG_2889the status of the building will be made by the building department and the owner of the rest home.
