NYACK HOSPITAL WELCOMES NEW CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER

anNyack Hospital has appointed Anthony V. Matejicka, II, DO, MPH, FACP as Chief Medical Officer. In this position, Dr. Matejicka will serve as a member of the senior leadership team and will oversee all physician activities throughout the organization, with particular emphasis on clinical program development and performance improvement. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Matejicka is a certified physician executive with wide-ranging experience as a senior leader overseeing medical staff.

Dr. Matejicka joins Nyack Hospital from Community Medical Center, a 596-bed fully accredited acute care hospital and Barnabas Health facility in Toms River, NJ. Prior to that position, he served as System Vice President at Texas-based Scott & White Healthcare, a 12-hospital acute-care system with 70 multispecialty clinics.

Dr. Matejicka earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Widener University in Chester, Pa. He earned a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Public Health degree with an emphasis in healthcare policy/administration from East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, Pa. Dr. Matejicka completed a rotating internship at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa., where he also completed a residency in internal medicine in 1997 and later served as chief medical resident. He was a practicing Internist until 2009.

Among his numerous accomplishments, Dr. Matejicka was awarded Clinical Teacher of the Year by the Lehigh Valley Health Network-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, Pa., where he served as assistant program director of transitional osteopathic internship program before becoming head of the clinical documentation improvement program. He is a member of the American College of Physician Executives, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.
