Teens from Nyack Yoga’s aerial yoga program starred during a benefit on Saturday, June 4 at the Nyack Center, held in support of Rockland’s Center for Safety & Change. The teen girls performed an experimental, improvisational aerial yoga performance, demonstrating the strength in mind and body resulting from their aerial practice.

Laura Kallen, owner of Nyack Yoga, said, “Our teens at Nyack Yoga feel the power of their aerial yoga practice and wanted to give back.”

Yoga instructor Bella Cannizzaro said, “It has been amazing as their instructor to work with the teens in aerial yoga and to see them connect to their talents.”

Aerial Yoga takes traditional yoga and lifts it off the ground and into the air through the use of silk hammocks suspended from the ceiling. The same as used in aerial acrobatics.

The Center for Safety and Change in New City, formerly called the Rockland Family Shelter, is a non-profit organization that serves survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes in Rockland County.
