Cops arrest teen for attempted murder in Spring Valley

Spring Valley PD report that pn Sunday, June 26, 2016 at approximately 11:55 p.m. officers responded to the area of 12 N. Myrtle Av for a report of a possible robbery.

In that area patrol units discovered an unconscious male with apparent facial and head injuries. The unidentified subject was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital via ambulance, as a “John Doe.” The victim was then transferred to Westchester Medical Center where he remains in grave condition.

The ensuing police investigation first led to the identity of the victim, who turned out to be an 18-year-old man. A suspect was soon developed and 16-year-old Jiwan Coleman of 31 Seabring St., Spring Valley, NY was arrested late Tuesday night. Mr. Coleman was charged with Attempted Murder, second degree and Assault, first degree. He was arraigned on Wednesday morning in Spring Valley Justice Court in front of Judge David Fried and held on $3,500,000 bail.
