GALLAGHER, PERRY AND SCHLAPPICH SHARE $4,500 FIRE SCHOLARSHIPS

gerryThe Rockland County Volunteer Firefightersโ€™ Association awarded a total of $4,500 to three graduating seniors last week. James B. Hartwick, Chairman of the RCVFA Stuart L. Gates Scholarship, made the awards the $1,500 awards to Lauren Gallagher, Adrianna Perry and Christopher Schlappich, The ceremony, before family and friends, was July 8 at the monthly RCVFA meeting held at the Mount Ivy firehouse of the Hillcrest Fire Co.

Lauren Gallagher, 30th of 206 in her class at Pearl River high school, she was a winner of the Girl Scout Silver Award, first-team Honors for soccer and basketball, active in SADD, Buddy Ball, blood drives, and the Nanuet FD Childrenโ€™s Holiday Party. Her father is James Gallagher, an RCVFA member since 1997 and volunteer with the Nanuet Fire Engine Co. She plans to study Finance at Georgetown University.

Adrianna Perry, third in her class of 223 at Spring Valley high school, going to Providence College for
Elementary and Special Education. She was a member of five Honor Societies, a swim team captain who taught swim lessons, a Key Club Editor, and she also volunteered at orphanages in Nicaragua thru her church youth ministry and leadership retreats. He father is Doug Perry, an RCVFA member since 1991 as well as a volunteer with the Brewer Fire Engine Co. 1 .and past-chief of the Monsey Fire Depaerment.

Christopher Schlappic was third in his class of 192 at Marlboro high school. He is ready to study Applied Math at Marist College. He was captain of the lacrosse team, leading it to its first-ever Section IX Championship, a member of School Senate, he collected food and toys, worked at blood drives, and on Moodyโ€™s Mega Math Challenge. His grandfather is Edward Hewitt, an RCVFA Life Member who joined in 1980, volunteers with the New City Fire Engine Co. 1 and is a past-chief of the New City Fire Department.
