Penguin Rep Theatre presents Mark St. Germain’s “Dancing Lessons” a new romantic comedy Aug. 12 – Sept. 4

Penguin Rep Theatre, the award-winning theatre in Stony Point, New York, under the leadership of Artistic Director Joe Brancato and Executive Director Andrew M. Horn, presents the New York premiere of “Dancing Lessons” by Mark St. Germain from August 12 through September 4, 2016.

Dancing Lessons, a touching story about finding love in unexpected places, is from the author of last season’s acclaimed Becoming Dr. Ruth and the long-running Off Broadway hit Freud’s “Last Session.”

In Dancing Lessons, a man with high-functioning autism (Asperger’s syndrome) seeks the instruction of a talented Broadway dancer, now sidelined with injuries. As their relationship unfolds, they’re caught off-guard by surprising discoveries – both hilarious and heartwarming. Matthew Schmidt and Kathleen Wise star in this new romantic comedy under the direction of Nick Demos.

The production design team includes Patrick Rizzotti (scenic designer), Dustin Cross (costume designer), Christina Watanabe (lighting designer), William Neal (sound designer), and Jean Marie Buccellato (properties designer), with casting by Cindi Rush. Jana Llynn is production stage manager. The limited engagement of Dancing Lessons runs through Sunday, September 4 at Penguin Rep’s Barn Theatre in historic Stony Point (Rockland County). Official opening is Sunday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m.
