2North Rockland businessmen and women were not about to let an idyllic Wednesday evening go to waste.  As the weekend’s extreme heat gave way to more tolerable temperatures, a nice breeze off the Hudson ensured local movers and shakers from the North Rockland Chamber of Commerce they would not melt while talking, eating, drinking and networking at “16 Front St.” restaurant.

The restaurant is in an enviable location, secluded in its own space along the Hudson River in the Village of Haverstraw. It was long the site of one of Rockland’s five star destinations: Civile’s Restaurant. Sadly, Hurricane Sandy destroyed that location in 2012 and the owner Tom Civile decided to call it quits rather than rebuild.
After a few years shopping for a tenant, the village met its match in the team of Bob Milone and Gary Oteri, of Gary & Company, a popular eatery in New City.  They thus formed “16 Front St.” and have filled the void left by the natural disaster with a reasonably priced but refined menu of American dinner favorites.

CORRECTION: The North Rockland Chamber has cancelled its previously scheduled Chamber breakfast August 26, 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Lynch’s Restaurant, 79A, S. Liberty Drive, Stony Point.
