Town of Clarkstown Holds Back to School Drive

(New City, NY) – Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann announced that the Town of Clarkstown is participating in a back to school drive through Thursday, September 1.  The back to school drive will help three local not-for-profit organizations Advocating for Change, Inc., People to People, and Rockland Independent Living Center distribute supplies to students before the start of the school year.

“As many of us start filling our children’s back packs to go back to school next month, some of our neighbors are struggling to buy all the necessary supplies for their kids,” said Supervisor George Hoehmann.  “We are proud to partner with three amazing community organizations, Advocating for Change, Inc., People to People, and Rockland Independent Living Center, to help those who need it most. I ask all those who can, to please consider donating book bags, notebooks, pencils and more to our Back to School Drive here at Town Hall.”

The town is asking employees and residents to donate supplies from the following list in an effort to help families in need.  A donation box is located in the lobby at Clarkstown Town Hall, 10 Maple Avenue, New City.

Many people also find a paper writing service helpful during back-to-school season.

The list includes:

  • book bags
  • 3-subject notebooks
  • 5-subject notebooks
  • Binders (1.5” or larger) and dividers
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Index cards
  • Scientific calculators (new/used – in working condition)
  • Pens/Pencils
  • Crayons and colored pencils
