Town of Clarkstown Holds Back to School Drive

(New City, NY) โ€“ Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann announced that the Town of Clarkstown is participating in a back to school drive through Thursday, September 1.  The back to school drive will help three local not-for-profit organizations Advocating for Change, Inc., People to People, and Rockland Independent Living Center distribute supplies to students before the start of the school year.

โ€œAs many of us start filling our childrenโ€™s back packs to go back to school next month, some of our neighbors are struggling to buy all the necessary supplies for their kids,โ€ said Supervisor George Hoehmann.  โ€œWe are proud to partner with three amazing community organizations, Advocating for Change, Inc., People to People, and Rockland Independent Living Center, to help those who need it most. I ask all those who can, to please consider donating book bags, notebooks, pencils and more to our Back to School Drive here at Town Hall.โ€

The town is asking employees and residents to donate supplies from the following list in an effort to help families in need.  A donation box is located in the lobby at Clarkstown Town Hall, 10 Maple Avenue, New City.

Many people also find a paper writing service helpful during back-to-school season.

The list includes:

  • book bags
  • 3-subject notebooks
  • 5-subject notebooks
  • Binders (1.5โ€ or larger) and dividers
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Index cards
  • Scientific calculators (new/used โ€“ in working condition)
