Monsey child hit by car is in critical condition

A 6-year-old child is in critical condition after a taxi hit him in the middle of a road in Monsey, Tuesday evening.

The cab, driven by Genus Charles, 71, of Spring Valley, was heading east on Calvert Dr. around 5:22 p.m. on Tuesday when the accident occurred. Young Yosef Klyman of Monsey was left with serious internal injuries and serious injuries on both his legs.

He required immediate transport to Westchester Medical Center and as of Wednesday afternoon remains in critical condition. Police are investigating the incident. They said no signs of alcohol consumption were evident on the driver’s part.

The cab was occupied by Charles and one fare. Police said that the child was hit on the driven area of the road.
