PRESS RELEASE–Supervisor George Hoehmann announced the Town of Clarkstown will receive $1.425 million dollars through the NYS Department of Transportation 2016 Bridge NY Program to reconstruct the CSX Bridge on Snake Hill Road in West Nyack. Clarkstown is the only town in Rockland County to receive funding from this state program.
“The town and our residents have been concerned about the safety and condition of that portion of Snake Hill Road for years,” said Supervisor Hoehmann. “We are thankful the State has recognized our concerns and for their commitment to critical infrastructure upgrades such as this.”
The grant will reimburse the town 95 percent and includes both design and construction costs, with a chance to get 100 percent reimbursed for construction costs. The scope of work calls for the replacement of the superstructure which includes the deck, sidewalks, walls, and beams. The project would be completed in 18 months.
“I will continue to search and apply for grant opportunities like this to keep Clarkstown residents safe and our infrastructure up to date,” said Supervisor Hoehmann.
