PRESS RELEASE

The Suffern Friendship Circle, a non-profit organization providing programs and support to families of individuals with special needs, will host the third annual “Walk with your Heart” Friendship Walk on Sunday, May 7 from noon to 4 p.m. at Rockland Community College on 145 College Rd.

“We are looking forward to raising vital funds and increasing community awareness for the Suffern Friendship Circle and children with special needs,” said Devorah Sirota, Suffern Friendship Circle co-founder. “The Friendship Circle’s unique approach brings teenage volunteers and children with special needs together for hours of fun and friendship. These shared experiences empower children with special needs while enriching the lives of everyone involved.”

The one-mile walk encourages participants of all ages to “walk a mile for a special child.”  It will begin with an inspirational opening ceremony, followed by the walk.  The Friendship Fair will follow and feature the Real Mccoy Show, the “Eliminator,” a video game truck, food, a petting zoo, inflatables, disc jockey music and other activities.

“This walk is an example of the tremendous power of community involvement to support individuals with special needs,” Sirota added.  “The funds raised will help expand the services and activities the Suffern Friendship Circle offers to families throughout the area.”
