Three artists interpret the human face and figure—mystical, realistic, and abstract—in “Art with Emotion: Faces and Figures,” a new exhibit at My Own Little Gallery, at Mainstream Commons (formerly Franklin Antiques Center), 142 Main St., Nyack.
A free opening public reception takes place Saturday, June 17 from 4 to 7 p.m.
As this new gallery show opens, with the work of artists Charis Carmichael Braun, Lauren Rudolph and Elaine Schloss, the public also will have the opportunity to take part in a special poster contest.
Portraitist Lauren Rudolph has created a “poster” outline of the Glinda, Good Witch of the North, from the Wizard of Oz and visitors are invited to color in the poster for an opportunity to win a dinner for two at Temptations Cafe, the popular Main St. restaurant/ice creamery featuring a menu that ranges from burgers and salads to the intricate and sometimes exotic. In addition, three selected applicants under the age of
10 will be awarded one of the ice cream treats the cafe is famous for.
Entrants will pick up a copy of the poster from Temptations Cafe, (80 Main St.) and deliver the finished piece to “My Own Little Gallery” (142 Main St.) to register. They can use any art material they choose (paint, pencil, digital means, etc.) or create at the
gallery with crayons and markers provided.
Posters will be available to color through June 16, when posters will be collected from Temptations, and brought to My Own Little Gallery to be judged. The winner will be announced June 17 4-7 p.m., at the opening reception.
The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Entries will remain on display at both Temptations and My Own Little Gallery until the end of June.
