Your weekly forecast by Zachary Jacomowitz
Hello, Rockland County! I hope you have had a great week, including safely enjoying Monday’s solar eclipse! I’m about to give you the forecast for the final week of August, and, consequentially, the final week of Meteorological Summer, which began back on June 1. Meteorological Fall begins on September 1. With that said, it’s time for the forecast!
Friday will start off on a comfortable note. Expect mostly sunny skies with just a few clouds. This will come following a cold front Wednesday and Thursday, so the air will have a refreshing feel to it. Highs will top out in the upper 70s. Saturday will feature similar conditions to Friday. Expect a cool morning as the lows will bottom out in the mid-50s, and highs will climb into the upper 70s to near 80° during the afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy.
The pleasant weather will continue right on into Sunday. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with highs near 80°. This will come after a morning low of around 55°. Monday isn’t looking too bad either with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 70s to near 80° once again. A stray afternoon shower or storm cannot be ruled out, but as of now, the chance is low. High pressure will remain in place on Tuesday, with increasing cloudiness during the afternoon. Highs will top out near 80°.
Our streak of nice and bright weather could come to an end on Wednesday. A storm system looks to develop to our south, off the Carolina coast. This will spread clouds over our area as highs get stuck in the low 70s. The system passes to our east on Thursday, but it looks like, as of now, we will be spared the brunt of the moisture as it stays mostly offshore. With that said, a few showers are possible Wednesday night and Thursday. Highs will be in the mid-70s.
The theme of this forecast is pleasant weather up until the middle of next week, so enjoy! Also, I wish nothing but the best of luck to all those moving back, or starting, college this weekend and last weekend. Here’s to a semester and academic year of success!
