Northern California musicians Nell Robinson & Jim Nunally Band announce their upcoming performance in Piermont, NY at The Turning Point Cafe Thurs. Sept. 14. The all-star band will feature Nell Robinson (vocals, flute), Jim Nunally (guitar & vocals), Jim Kerwin (bass fiddle), and Jon Arkin (percussion), for an intimate night of music premiering new material as well as album favorites from Baby Let’s Take the Long Way Home.

With a seamless blend of original material and classic country gems, Baby Let’s Take the Long Way Home marks the beginning of a new journey for these โ€œbeloved Bay Area bluegrass starsโ€ (San Jose Mercury News). Featuring 10 new songs and two choice covers, the record debuted at 14 on Billboard’s Bluegrass chart and has since gone on to receive rave reviews from No Depression, Vents Magazine, Skope Magazine and more.

Friends since 2009, Robinson and Nunally teamed up for a number of projects before falling in love. For Baby Letโ€™s Take the Long Way Home, they rustled up what became their dream team: bass fiddle player Jim Kerwin (David Grisman, Jerry Garcia), and percussionist Jon Arkin (Lee Konitz, Gene Perla).

Audiences are in for a special night of music featuring this combination of a-list musicians. Jim Kerwin, considered one of the best and most versatile bass players in the country, has credits ranging from David Grisman and Jerry Garcia to Yo-Yo Ma and Stephane Grapelli. With unsurpassed jazz chops, Jon Arkin can give the deepest groove from afro-beat to bluegrass.

Nell Robinson (a former political organizer) and Jim Nunally (Grammy and IBMA award-winning musician) have appeared at The Kennedy Center, Folk Alliance International, Garrison Keillorโ€™s Prairie Home Companion, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, PBS series Music Gone Public, Kate Wolf Music Festival, and Strawberry Music Festival.
