Film about Upper Nyack Man Who Saved Lives on 9/11 Premieres

The story of local hero, Welles Crowther, was told in a world premiere film โ€“ โ€œMan in Red Bandanaโ€ โ€“ in Suffern.

Crowther, a 24-year-old from Upper Nyack, died during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 after helping at least 20 people to safety from the South Tower, including a woman who he carried on his shoulder down 17 flights of stairs.

The documentary was written and directed by Matthew Weiss with Chad A. Verdi and Joshua Sason as producers. โ€œMan in Red Bandanaโ€ premiered September 6, ย 7:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Theatre in Suffern, co-sponsored by The Journal News.
