Borderline Folk Music Club will have a Musical Open Mic Sunday, September 24 at 1 p.m. at the Nanuet Public Library. Musicians, performers, friends and families are invited for an afternoon of musical community. Admission is free. For information, email intrend@yahoo.com.

The Brick Alley Block Party will be held at Garner Arts Center to celebrate the opening of Garner’s 2017-18 season and the one-year anniversary of the on-site craft brewery Industrial Arts Brewing Company held on September 23. The block party is an after-hours event filled with immersive art, food trucks, a milk and cookie cart and craft beverage bars that culminates in a sundown DJ set with Max Sprauer in a 19th Century Brick Alleyway. There will be a funk steel drum band, painted women, silk installations, dances, art exhibitions, light sculptures and more, including the world premiere of Mechanica, an exploration of Garner Arts Center. Artists appearing include Reid Stowe, Molly Joyce, Leo Casteneda, the Chapman Brothers, Hudson Valley Ballet Company, Jamie Gaviola, Jamie Kimak and Adam Garey. A First Responders Family Picnic and Barbecue is set for Saturday October 14 at the Fire Training Center in Pomona. Music and lots of food and family fun. Kimberly Hawkey is bringing her 6-piece jazz band to Maureen’s Jazz Cellar in Nyack, Saturday, September 16 at 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. It is part of the group’s cross New York State tour en route to the Clayton Jazz Festival and will launch Elvanelle Music, a collective for time traveling song. Jaime Laredo to conduct violinist Jinjoo Choo and the Westchester Philharmonic, Sunday, October 15 at 3 p.m. at the opening of the orchestra’s 35th season. A benefit party will follow the concert. Contact westchesterphil.org for more info.

The Bergen Symphony Orchestra will be presenting Brahms, Mozart, Sibelius and Elgar on October 7, opening its seventh concert season at 7 p.m. at Fort Lee High School auditorium.
