CITIZEN PREPAREDNESS TRAINING SUCCESS

Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) hosted a Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program at the Nanuet Public Library late last month. Ninety-eight residents turned out to listen to a 2-hour presentation giving residents the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions.

“Events like these are vital to ensure that families living here in the Hudson Valley are prepared should disaster strike,” Carlucci said. “Between the 81 Disaster Kits given out and this important training from Sergeant Daniel Messina of the NY National Guard our residents are now some of the best prepared citizens in the country.”

Each Preparedness Kit came in a backpack and contained a plastic drop cloth, light stick, two D Batteries, a first aid kit, face mask, safety goggles, AM/FM pocket radio with batteries, six packs of drinking water, six food bars, a flashlight, an emergency blanket, duct tape, work gloves and a water bottle.
