Tappan Zee High School varsity athletes Kaitlyn Borruso and Tadhg O’Riordan signed official college commitment letters during a ceremony in the school gym last week. Borruso will play softball for Colgate University, where she plans to major in biology and minor in mathematics.
Her TZ experience has prepared her for college athletics, she said. “It’s made me more of a competitor. I’ve learned how to play at an elite level.”
O’Riordan is headed to Manhattan College where he’ll play lacrosse and study engineering. Reflecting on his time at TZ, Tadhg points to bonds with teammates and coaches as a highlight. “The coaches are so dedicated and work so hard. It’s really special,” he said.
Athletic Director Keith Johnson congratulated students during the signing ceremony. “It’s obviously an indicator of how determined these athletes are to excel, both on the field and in the classroom,” he said. “The TZ Athletics program is very fortunate to have these two student athletes serving as role models for our future generations.”
