CEO OF BON SECOURS NAMED WINNER OF 2017 WOMEN IN BUSINESS AWARD

Mary P. Leahy, MD, CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System/Good Samaritan Hospital, was named a winner of the Hudson Valley Magazine Sixth annual Women in Business Awards. This yearโ€™s honorees are profiled in the magazineโ€™s December issue, currently available on newsstands. Dr. Leahy is among 16 winners from the Hudson Valley who will be honored at a celebratory awards luncheon that will be held on December 7, 2017 at Villa Borghese, Wappingers Falls.

Hudson Valley Magazineโ€™s Women in Business Awards pay tribute to a select group of female executives and entrepreneurs who were nominated by their supervisors, peers and co-workers. The magazine’s editors vet all nominees and choose an elite group of Hudson Valley women who have demonstrated a consistent level of success in their respective fields and have made a lasting impact both on the economy and in their communities.

Dr. Leahy was named CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System in 2013, with responsibility for setting the systemโ€™s strategic vision and providing leadership for system-wide operations and performance for three acute care hospitals, including Good Samaritan Hospital; the Bon Secours Medical Group; a regional home health care agency; two long-term care facilities; an assisted living facility; and an adult home. Dr. Leahyโ€™s service to Bon Secours Charity Health System, its employees, physicians, patients and the community has very deep roots. In addition to being a longtime resident of Rockland County, she is a board-certified internist who has been practicing medicine in her community for over 25 years.

She played a key role in facilitating the joint venture between Bon Secours Health System and Westchester Medical Center (WMC), which became effective in May, 2015. As a result, Bon Secours Charity Health System is now part of WMCHealth (Westchester Medical Center Health Network), which allows Bon Secours Charity Health System to expand advanced clinical services to people living and working in Rockland and Orange counties.

As a physician, collaborative leader and tireless community volunteer, Dr. Leahy has created a quiet legacy of commitment to the community and an impressive professional career.
