Clarkstown Detective Bureau Arrests Congers Resident for Hit and Run Death

The Clarkstown Detective Bureau arrested a 48-year-old female Congers resident on January 29, 2018 for the hit and run death of Manuel Aguaiza of New City that occurred on December 19, 2017. Mr. Aguaiza succumbed to the injuries he suffered as a result of the accident.

After a lengthy criminal investigation, the detective assigned to the case arrested Jodi Sarf, 48, of Congers, NY. Sarf and her attorney surrendered to the police the morning of the 29th. She was processed and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury resulting in death (felony). Jodi Sarf was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and was released on her own recognizance. She will return to court on March 26, 2018 at 9:30 a.m.

For background, on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Aguaiza crossing Rt. 304 at Third St. when he was struck by a dark colored SUV vehicle. The SUV fled the scene heading southbound on Rt. 304. The victim was transported to Nyack ER for medical attention.
