Sex in the City Star to Run for Governor Spot in 2020
Actress Cynthia Nixon, former star of Sex in the City, plans to run for New York Governor in 2020. If elected, Nixon, 51, would legalize and tax marijuana to capture the revenue. She also believes New York missed out on a crucial moment to enact new gun control measures after the recent mass shootings. Nixon believes New York has good gun laws but could do more by banning bump-stock devices. During an interview with Wendy Williams she talked about Stephon Clark, the unarmed 22-year-old black man who was shot eight times in his grandmother’s backyard in California. “If we’re going to say black lives matter, we have to mean it,“ she said, “and we have to implement change.“ Nixon acknowledged her challenge against Cuomo and believes that he too was a celebrity eight years ago when he ran because he was the son of former Governor Mario Cuomo.
