NEW GENERATION THEATRE ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION FOR “CATS”

PRESS RELEASE

The New Generation Theatre, a theatre company for young performers, is currently accepting registration for its 2018 summer theatre production of “Cats.”

Directed by Sol Bloch and Justin Boccitto, NGT strives to provide sophisticated musical productions for serious-minded students looking to further their singing, acting, and dancing skills. This year NGT has also developed a collaboration with Coupe Theatre Studio, founded by Diane Frankel.

All rehearsals for “Cats” will take place at their facility in Nanuet. The New Generation Theatre has been entertaining audiences in the Lower Hudson Valley since it opened to the public in 2011 with their premier production of “The Who’s Tommy.”

“Cats” marks NGT’s eighth summer production with past credits including: “The Who’s Tommy,” “Urinetown,” “Les Miserables: School Edition,” “Hairspray,” “Young Frankenstein,” “In the Heights” and “West Side Story.”

Bloch and Boccitto also utilize their connections on Broadway, bringing in special guests to conduct seminars with the students. Some past speakers have included Adam Chandler-Berat (Next to Normal, Peter and the Starcatcher) and Michael MacDonald (Les Miserables, Memphis).

The program is open to students in Grades 8-12 and will run June 25 through July 31, Mondays-Wednesdays, from 6:30 – 10 p.m.; performances August 1, 2, 3 and 4 at 7 p.m.; auditions June 19 and 20 at Coupe Theatre Studio, from 6 – 10 p.m.

Interested students can learn more and register at www.newgenerationtheatre.com. NGT is also accepting student musicians for the “Cats” orchestra. Registration is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
